Joan Marie Grant recently completed filming as Vera Schwartz in Lise Swenson’s feature Saltwater. She will be seen as Olivia in Hsiao-Shu Chang’s short film Dead Letters and as Susan Madie in the web series Back of the House.  Later this summer (2013) she will appear at B Street Theatre (Sacramento) as Polly Wyeth in Other Desert Cities by Jon Robin Baitz.  Joan toured nationally as Mrs. Kendal in The Elephant Man and she has been seen onstage in New York and in regional theatres. Among her favorite roles are Blanche DuBois; A Streetcar Named Desire, Olivia; Twelfth Night and Mrs. Winemiller in Summer and Smoke. In New York City she originated the roles of Virginia Woolf in Alma and Mrs. Woolf, Lois in Farm Boys and Cynthia Arn in Hidden Parts at Primary Stages. She originated the title role of Mary C. at the Sharon Playhouse. She is a longtime member of the Theatre Artists Workshop in Norwalk, Connecticut.
